London Global Cancer Week 2022
13 - 18 Nov 2022
-, London, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
Cancer has become the second leading cause of death globally, responsible for nearly 10 million deaths in 2018. A diagnosis of cancer has become a significant risk not only for the populations of wealthy countries like the UK but in developing nations also, with two thirds of all cancer deaths occurring in Africa or Asia. Excluded from the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) during 2000-2015, Cancer has now reached global pandemic proportions, becoming the cause of one death every five seconds in the low and middle income countries and surpassing the total global mortality from HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined.
