Dr Arielle Elkrief - University of Montreal Hospital Research Centre, Montreal, Canada

Dr Arielle Elkrief speaks to ecancer in online video interview about an observational cohort study from Quebec and British Columbia looking at the mortality among hospital-acquired COVID-19 infection in patients with cancer.

She reports that 47% of cancer patients who contracted COVID-19 in the hospital died compared with 23% of cancer patients who had contracted COVID-19 in the community.

Dr Elkrief explains that a multi-varied analysis was carried out in order to adjust for other factors and, from this, catching COVID-19 in the hospital was shown as being independently associated with worse outcomes.
