Prof Faye Ruddock speaks to ecancer about a talk she presented at London Global Cancer Week 2025 on 'Empowering communities to take charge of cancer prevention', with a focus on the Caribbean and African population.
She describes her work with the Caribbean & African Health Network (CAHN) that aims to challenge health inequalities and disproportionate outcomes faced by Black people in Britain.
Prof Ruddock details that one aspect of community empowerment is providing the tools, literacy and engagement to help people prevent cancers in the first place and to help healthcare professionals be as effective as possible.
