Dr Henri Cartier Co presents his talk at Choosing Wisely Philippines 2023 about current indications and challenges with intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) in the Philippines.

He explains what IORT is, the various methods of IORT and how this is implemented in the Philippine General Hospital setting. Other topics covered include evidence supporting the use of IORT, risk factors for recurrence and key rationales for using IORT.

Dr Cartier Co concludes by highlighting the need for medical professionals to be strict with the inclusion criteria for cancer patients before they are selected for IORT.
