Enrique Soto Pérez de Celis, a renowned geriatric oncologist and Associate Professor of Medical Oncology at the University of Colorado Anschutz, has been appointed as the new Editor-in-Chief of ecancermedicalscience. This prestigious role follows the impactful tenure of Dr Eduardo Cazap, who transformed the journal into a leading platform for global oncology research, particularly from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
Dr Soto Pérez de Celis brings extensive experience in global oncology and a strong commitment to mentorship and education. He aims to continue the journal's mission of reducing global inequalities in cancer care by promoting research from resource-constrained settings. Under his leadership, ecancermedicalscience will maintain its policies of free access to published articles and waiving publication fees for authors without dedicated funding.
A key focus for Dr Soto Pérez de Celis will be to leverage artificial intelligence to support researchers in LMICs, providing statistical and linguistic assistance to enhance the quality and dissemination of their work. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between researchers in LMICs and high-income countries, fostering a more inclusive and equitable global oncology research landscape.
Dr Soto Pérez de Celis's appointment marks a significant step forward for ecancermedicalscience as it continues to champion the voices of researchers worldwide and improve cancer care for all populations.
We are an independent charity and are not backed by a large company or society. We raise every penny ourselves to improve the standards of cancer care through education. You can help us continue our work to address inequalities in cancer care by making a donation.
Any donation, however small, contributes directly towards the costs of creating and sharing free oncology education.
Together we can get better outcomes for patients by tackling global inequalities in access to the results of cancer research.
Thank you for your support.
