Learning objectives

By the end of this educational initiative, participants will be able to:

  • Define Pharmacovigilance
  • Demonstrate knowledge of pharmacovigilance reporting structures and processes in Kenya and across Africa, including how to complete and submit adverse event reports.
  • Identify the unique pharmacovigilance challenges faced in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), such as resource limitations, language barriers, and limited HCW training.
  • Utilise pharmacovigilance knowledge to improve clinical decision-making and patient safety in oncology and other disciplines.
  • Incorporate adverse event reporting into routine healthcare practices, ensuring compliance with local and regional regulatory requirements.
  • Work effectively within multidisciplinary teams to foster a coordinated approach to pharmacovigilance and improve medication safety.
  • Tailor pharmacovigilance practices to the specific regulatory, cultural, and healthcare contexts of Kenya, Eswatini, Lesotho, and other African countries.
  • Evaluate the long-term impact of improved pharmacovigilance practices on clinical competence and patient outcomes.
